I’m completely stumped. I need help diagnosing and fixing an issue in a new installation of the EVE-NG Community edition installed with an OVF into ESXi 6.5. I can’t get Cisco IOL routers to start. These are the only type I use. I’m using IOL images that I’ve used successfully in other installations of EVE. The very first time I try to start a router in a lab I get a notification in the GUI something like “R1 could not be started (12)”. Then, every time after that it will say that the router started successfully, even if the lab is closed and reopened, even if EVE is rebooted. However, the router will not be started. I’ve been very careful to follow the exact instructions in the “EVE-NG Community Cook Book” and the installation videos. I’ve most certainly checked the option to “Expose hardware assisted virtualization to the guest OS”. One thing that is odd to me, I see that Ubuntu is reporting an “amd64” architecture, yet the command “kvm-ok” shows the processor as Intel(R) Xeon(R) Silver 4116 CPU @ 2.10GHz. I wonder if that has something to do with it.
Below are some of the details of my install and things I’ve tried:
EVE-NG Community Edition 2.0.3-110
Installed using an OVF on ESXi 6.5
Have assigned 8 CPU and 16GB RAM
Checked “Expose hardware assisted virtualization to the guest OS”
Experimented with CPU/MMU Virtualization, have tried all settings
Validated that disk and CPU and memory utilization are good.
Have followed instructions for update and upgrade
Thank you in advance for your guidance. Cheers.
