I have tried on version 9.2.0-n8.....no problem.....booting is ok...within 1 minutes....

maybe you can try on older version first to confirm

(running on bare metal, i7 processor, ssd hard disk)

ok....for version 9.6.0a download the kvm image

image_rbt_vcx_kvm_9_6_0a_n6_x86_64.tgz

1. create directory
mkdir /opt/unetlab/addons/qemu/riverbed-9.6.0a-n6/

2. Extract your image_rbt_vcx_kvm_9_6_0a_n6_x86_64.tgz to /opt/unetlab/addons/qemu/riverbed-9.6.0a-n6/
tar xvf image_rbt_vcx_kvm_9_6_0a_n6_x86_64.tgz

3. rename the mgmt.img to virtioa.qcow2
mv mgmt.img virtioa.qcow2

4. create 2GB datastore
/opt/qemu/bin/qemu-img create -f qcow2 /opt/unetlab/addons/qemu/riverbed-9.6.0a-n6/virtiob.qcow2 2G

5. fix permissions
/opt/unetlab/wrappers/unl_wrapper -a fixpermissions

bootup slightly slow first/second time...just wait....(around 1 mins+)....then the usual SCC setup and bla bla bla will prompt....

Is there a way to create more inpath interfaces?

The default appears to have only one pair

wan0_0
lan0_0

how do I create below? When I try to add interface from default 4 to more (like 6 or 8), I get the EM1 interfaces instead.

lan0_1
wan0_1

Looks you have wrongly prepared image only, I just add 8 interfaces no no such issue observed
