Proxmox LXC Container

Post by ozan1 » Fri Jan 28, 2022 3:14 am

Are there any documentation with regards to installing EVE-NG as a LXC container in Proxmox?

I've ran into some people swearing the performance is almost as good as bare metal. I've found guides on how to install EVE-NG as a VM in Proxmox, but not as a container. Would it perform better? Or would the performance gain not be noticeable over Windows 10 + VMWare?

I am currently running it in VMWare Player on top of Windows 10 (16-core chip, 128GB RAM, and having some performance issues once in a while. Mainly layer 7 firewall acting inconsistently.) Which is why I am exploring either bare metal, or Proxmox which would fit my needs more.

There are no specific instructions that provide support for LXC installation of EVE-NG as a Proxmox container. However, as a working person, you might have other needs that need assistance. I’d recommend following the informative online guide to LXC installation. mapquest driving directions

i have read that the issue of eve-ng running inside proxmox is related to the proxmox kernel being used. Currently, proxmox version 7.1 uses kernel 5.13
I have read that downgrading to kernel 5.11 works perfectly, or installing proxmox 7.0 also works, although I have not tried this myself, but looking into it seriously since I have a Dell R620 dual E5-2640v2 and 128Gb ram and would like to run eve-ng PRO inside proxmox myself.
