9th gen Intel core CPU / EPT support

Hello,
I was initially thinking of building a bare metal eve install on a 9th gen Core CPUs (dual boot Windows/EVE), but unfortunately It seems Intel removed the EPT support from their latest core CPUs.
So would you confirm that the latest Core cpu is for now the 8xxx ?
And what do you think about the removal of EPT ? Do you also confirm that the only solutions in the future will be to use a Xeon ?
Thanks.

Hello,
thanks for your comment.
Your web page mentions SLAT (second level address translation) as a supported feature, which actually could be equivalent (or new name) to EPT.
However, the official intel doc doesn't mention for 9xxx neither EPT nor SLAT support:
Intel's EPT definition:
IntelĀ® VT-x with Extended Page Tables (EPT), also known as Second Level Address Translation (SLAT), provides
acceleration for memory intensive virtualized applications. Extended Page Tables in IntelĀ® Virtualization
Technology platforms reduces the memory and power overhead costs and increases battery life through hardware
optimization of page table management.

Only way is to check is your PC BIOS and if virtualization is enabled....
About official doc, not always Intel showing all features....
I know that in arc wasn't mention EPT..
Anyway start check your BIOS first

fyi, Intel introduced new extended EPT features in 7th Gen CPU. The features present in older generations are still there.
There are no differences in the new features in 7/8 and 9th gen. So provided that EVE works on a 7th gen core cpu, I guess it would work on a i9-9900.

7th gen spec:

8/9th gen specs:

Would be grateful if someone could confirm they have a bare metal install fully functionnal on a 8th or 9th gen CPU though.
Thanks.

FYI, I contacted Intel customer support and they confirmed that EPT was available on gen 8/9 core CPU. Ark needs to be updated though as doesn't reflect that.

Hello Guys,
what do you mean by "Ark update" ? What is this?
I have a pc with an Intel (R) Core (TM) i9-10900K processor:
- The VT-d function is enabled in bios.
- I have Windows Hypervisor Platform under "Windows Features" on.
- EVE Community Edition V 2.0.3-112 - EVE-NG OVF - Google mirror.
When I start eve on VMware Workstation player 16 with VT-x / EPT enabled, then i get an error:
Virtualized Intel VT-x / EPT is not supported on this platform.
With VT-x / EPT disabled i can start eve normally but of course no nested virtualized in this situation.
Do I need to enable something else or will eve not work with this certain CPU?
