ESXi no GUI when using Arista vEOS

Post by dleonhart » Wed Nov 17, 2021 4:14 pm

Hello! I have been using EVE-NG for almost a year and love it!

I have been using Arista switches with no issues at all. I recently ran into one issue where if I have an ESXi host connected to the switch, plus a Linux box connected to the switch, I can ping, SSH but not HTTP\HTTPS into the ESXi box. It tries to load the page and just eventually times out. If I connected the Linux box straight to the ESXi host it works fine.

ESXi - I have tried 6.5, 6.7 and 7.0 from the EVE-NG ESXi on EVE-NG page: I am currently using esxi-vSphere-6.5d
Arista - I have tried both veos-4.27.0F and veos-4.22.6M
Linux VM - linux-ubuntu-18.04-server

I have tried Chrome and FireFox within that Linux VM.

Anyone else have this issue? Thank you.

It does the same thing through a Dell OS 10 switch using this image: dellos10-10.4.1.0

But again, directly VM to ESXi works fine.

When using a router image, namely Cisco IOL, putting Linux on one interface and esxi on the other and using the router as a gateway for both, this works.

Router Interfaces:
Linux 10.0.0.1/24
ESXi 10.1.0.1/24

Linux Box: 10.0.0.10/24
ESXi Box: 10.1.0.10/24

Routes fine and GUI works.
-----------------------------------------------------
I put Arista in routed mode on interfaces and it doesn't work. What I am trying to do is have two Arista switches and two esxi host and then use VM tracer.

Any thoughts? Thank you,.

I also tried going Linux box to router, to switch, to esxi and it didn't work. I then made it go Linux to router to esxi and it worked.

It is only when running through switches that I have this issue.

And to add, I have a 16vCPU\128GB RAM eve-ng pro setup.
