How to expand disk capacity when installing Palo Alto VM

Post by proppracted » Mon Jun 16, 2025 4:27 am

Hello everyone, I have a problem that seems simple but is beyond my current ability. I need to deploy a Palo Alto virtual marchine with a 60GB hard drive, but i don't know how to do it. The VM image file provided by Palo Alto is about 4.2GB and I have successfully installed installed it in EVE. The problem is how to expand the dick capacity using a tool like qemu-img create? Please guide me, thanks!

You will need to run the command on the EVE-NG Linux console. The Palo Alto VM image in EVE-NG is usually located in `/opt/unetlab/addons/qemu/`. The folder name usually corresponds to the device name. Inside this folder, you will find the QCOW2 disk image file. It is important to ensure that the Palo Alto VM node is powered off and stopped in your EVE-NG lab before proceeding. Modifying the disk image while it is in use can corrupt the image. Before making any changes, make a copy of the existing QCOW2 file. This way, if anything goes wrong, you can roll back.
