How can I add properly Windows 2000 in EVE-NG?

Post by TurboC » Wed Oct 30, 2019 9:29 am

yesterday I tried to install in EVE-NG windows 2000 with these QEMU options suggested by wikipedia (https://wiki.qemu.org/Windows2000):

Code: Select all

-m 384 -boot c -vga cirrus -net nic,model=rtl8139 -net user -usb -soundhw sb16 -localtime

unfortunately, after the installation, before to see the desktop, the system stucks. how can I solve this issue? if I try to install windows 2000 via QEMU in my Linux system, with the same QEMU options, it works. why in EVE-NG it doesn't work?

it's not possibile. EVE-NG runs on an Ubuntu 16.04 virtual machine and to emulate the network devices, it uses QEMU. this emulator support windows 2000 perfectly, infact I installed it with QEMU in Kubuntu without any kind of issue.

you are wrong bro, Windows XP works very well in EVE-NG, and let me say, it's like a glove! low requirments, low CPU levels, .. wonderful! ;)

I already tried but it stucks during the installation with an error message, ahah.. I wanted to use Windows 2000 just to use the Cisco ACS 4.2. the old systems allow you to have a powerful lab environment with a very low system requirments, and why not, you can also have fun with DOS attacks against them, just for schooling and study the old security attacks.

are you a developer? it's my opinion of course, but I really don't understand why you don't support the old operating systems, after all QEMU works with them, so where is the problem? :)

I'll try to install Windows 2000, as I already made for Windows XP, but if you can, consider the idea to support it. I like EVE-NG but it could be better.
