EVE Default Gateway in VM and external device?

Post by DevonB1 » Thu Mar 11, 2021 7:44 am

Dear Community! Please advise. As you can see from attachment, we have server with Hypervisor type 1 and EVE-NG VM. Also we have external device - Cisco 3850 switch. Diagram is simplified to stress important parts only. Cisco 3850 VLAN1 interface is used as a Default gateway for containers and hosts inside EVE VM. Cisco 3850 VLAN1, EVE VM, kernel vmnic and even containers and hosts inside EVE VM - all in the same subnet. The issue that containers and hosts inside EVE VM can not ping direct Cisco 3850 VLAN1 interface default gateway. Only IP of EVE VM. It is used Cloud2 to bridge containers and hosts inside EVE VM to pnic of EVE VM. It is possible to ping EVE VM IP, kernel vmnic but not Cisco 3850 VLAN1 interface default gateway. Please advise if anybody has idea or send link or any other gide to solve this issue. Thank you much all in advance

It depends where your EVE is installed.
on ESXI to connect real SW trunked to lab switch is relative easy.
But if you want to do with Wndows and VM Workstation, then need more nads on Windows reg files to allow promiscue mode here.
Esxi EVE and connection to real switch is described in EVE Pro cookbook.
As well I am attaching design, how it is built.
